International Va’a Federation / International Canoe Federation
Hotel Castel Mercure - Windsor (England)
December 01 & 04, 2009
Developpement Committee - December 01 & 02, 2009
With an very heavy agenda, the Commitee has, for 2 days, worked on many projects concerning a long term development of the ICF and, with agreement, of the IVF.
The Committee has transmitted its resolutions for approval by the ICF Executive Board that has met on December 3 & 4, 2009.
The following main issues were raised and discussed:
1. to enter the Kayak & Va’a in the International Paralympique Committee (IPC). To become reality, ICF & IVF MUST register the participation of a minimum of 24 countries during the ICF World Sprints in Poznan (Poland) on August 18 to 22, 2009 (
www.kayak2010.com). Then the bid for integration of the K1, K2, V1 & V2 will be forwrded to IPC in October 2010
2. The integration of Kayak and Va’a in the Commonwealth Games. The action is well advanced, a full report has been transmited by the United Kingdom for the integration of our 2 sports during the next Games on October 3 to 14 Octobre 2010 in New Delhi (India)
3. What are the proposed boats? The choice has been in favour of K1& K2, the V1 & V2 of course without rudder for the Va’a
4. The re-integration of the Kayak in the Pacific Games and Mini Games. That disposition is a result of steps taken by Charles Villierme during the Sports Committee of the Pacific Games Council which was held during the Mini Games in the Cook Islands last September
Finally, a cooperation agreement between IVF and ICF was signed in order to officialise the common understanding and good working relationship of the two federations with the goal to promote the sport through the uses of combined expertise, infrastructure and efforts.
